About Us

Alternatives Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides Day Program and Residential Services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities since July of 1995. We have 9 programs located in Naugatuck, Waterbury, Stratford, and Bethel.

Our day program offers a community experience program, life skills development and small work activities. We strive to build confidence and encourage independence in our participants. Participants come from other organizations, their family homes, and Alternatives’ group homes.

Alternatives provides three different types of group homes: Intermediate Care Facility (ICF), Community Living Arrangement (CLA) and Continuous Residential Supports (CRS). The ICFs have a committed team of direct support professionals, LPNs and a residential manager to ensure the safety and well-being of our individuals. The support teams at the CLAs and CRS also include direct support professionals and a residential manager all under the guidance of the Director of Health.

All of our group homes have been built or renovated within the last 10 years. Our programs contain the modern conveniences needed to promote a safe, fun, and thriving environment. We can rely on our stable workforce to provide the best care and to advocate for the individuals we support.
